Abstract
The Valley Union Education Society was in charge of the Female Seminary at Botetourt Springs, which would become Hollins Institute in 1855. In 1901, the institute was switched to private ownership through the CLC Corporation. After 1910, Hollins Institute became Hollins College. The CLC Corporation was headed by a Board of Govenors.
