Abstract

Ida Sitler was a Professor of Zoology (Biology), at Hollins College from 1920-1947, and was head of the science department for many years. She corresponded with several people and organizations over her time, including the Smithsonian, Clay-Adams Company, Smith College, US Department of Agriculture, and the National Museum in DC, among others.

Biographical / Historical

Ida Sitler was born in New Mahoning, PA. She attended the University of Michigan, where she graduated in 1910. She also received a masters degree in science from the same school in 1918. She was a teacher of Zoology (Biology) at Hollins College (University) from 1920-1947, after which she was honored as a Professor Emerita.
