Biographical / Historical
Marion Estes Cocke was born on Hollins campus in 1876. His father was Charles H. Cocke, son of Charles L. Cocke, founder of Hollins. He worked for the college for 55 years, serving variously as physics and mathemetics professor, Treasurer, Dean of the College, Director of Admissions, and Postmaster. He married Susie Maybeth Wilson, and had five children. He retired in 1952, and passed away in 1954.
